Coach Jeff Horsley honored as "Soda Springs Super Hero"

Soda Springs School District Cross Country Coach, Jeff Horsley has made an incomparable impact on the community through his outstanding efforts as a coach and teacher. The words of praise and thanks from all those who have been a part of his program are exceptionally deserving.

When you hear of cross country running in Soda Springs, Idaho you automatically think of Jeff Horsley. Jeff was instrumental in the formation of a cross country team at Soda Springs High School. With the help of his Dad an unofficial team was formed Jeff’s sophomore year and the team was made official the next year in 1989. Jeff participated in cross country and track at ISU and held the 2nd fastest time for the 3000 Meter Steeple Chase and is still currently the 3rd fastest time holder. Jeff began teaching and coaching at Soda Springs High School in 1997.

In the past 16 years as Head Coach of the Soda Springs School District Cross Country team the team has had exceptional success due to Coach Horsley’s passion and love not only for the sport but for his extended family – the students & athletes! The number of District and State Championships held by the Soda Springs Cross Country teams is unmatched, making State history.

Jeff’s passion is supported by his wife Kristin of 15 years and his three children.

It is hard to appropriately acknowledge the efforts of such an inspirational person. The City would like to recognize and thank Coach Horsley for the outstanding example he sets and for the lasting, positive impact he has had on the youth of the community.
